Retarget your Audience

If followers don't engage, change them.

Retarget your audience

Currently, I have a huge problem with my account.

I come from the crypto world, you are probably into crypto too. But most people on my X account, aren’t interested in my new content, about how to grow on Social Media, which is holding me back massively.

That’s why I need to change my community focus entirely, here is what I have to do, and so do you.

Let’s jump right into it!

In today’s post, you’ll learn:

  • How to know if people are no longer interested

  • How does this affect you?

  • How to pick your niche

  • How to change my community

How to know if people are no longer interested

You can usually tell with ease when this happens. For example, I’ve noticed it with my content. When I talk about crypto, likes come easy, when I talk about how to grow on social media, not that much.

My old followers are not interested in my new content, and that’s bad.

I need active people who want to improve their social media, and who therefore are interested in my content. Because right now, my content isn’t getting much traction.

And that’s probably already happened to you, but anyway, it will definitely happen in the near future, as it’s unlike you’ll be interested in the same content for decades.

How does this affect you?

Having unengaged followers has tremendous consequences for your account.

Twitter and all social media work in the following way:

  1. Introduce your content to your followers.

  2. Test if your followers like your content.

  3. If they like it, the post gets more exposure, if they don’t like it, it doesn’t get exposure.

Therefore, you must have the most active community around you as you possibly can. Or it will kill your account.

How to pick your niche

You may already know where you want to move your community to, for me, I want to change my following for one that’s interested in growing their Social Media, and I believe this is something a lot of people are interested.

But if you are not entirely sure, I’d recommend opening Google Trends and checking how interested people will be in your topic.

For me my target audience is “Social Media“, as we can see, it’s been on an uptrend since always. So that’s a good sign and means there are probably a lot of people interested.

Maybe you are interested in talking about AI:

As you can tell, of course, it has had a massive spike since Chat-GPT came to life, so now it would be a great time to build a community around that topic.

But if you already know for sure what you want to talk about, then good for you, but I would recommend you check trends anyway, as you might be pursuing a dead topic.

How to change my community

First, you need to know where your niche is, if you want to build a community around how to edit videos, maybe Twitter isn’t the best platform for you.

For the sake of keeping it simple, let’s assume your audience is on Twitter. Here is what you need to do, and it’s really simple.

  1. Find your target audience (search for keywords)

  2. Go to a viral post, around what you want to talk about

  3. Now, scroll through all the replies, and reply to them

  4. Then go through everyone’s profile, and check their content, also throw a few likes here and there (we want to get their attention)

  5. Finally, start posting only about the content you want to build your audience around.

  6. Repeat over and over again.

This is a process that takes time, but there isn’t any fast way to build your audience. The more you connect with people who are interested in your content, the sooner the algorithm will start pushing your posts forward.
