Don’t overwhelm your readers

Before writing this post I realized I had three ads to include on today’s post, I had already accepted each ad, so I couldn’t back down.

That led me to write about saturating content, as I’ve mistakenly done with this post.

Let me tell you I am sorry for the absurd number of ads there are on such a brief post. I had to let you know beforehand.

Let’s jump right into it!

In today’s post, you’ll learn to:

  • Prioritize quality, always.

  • Don’t rush to monetize.

  • The less promotion paradox.

Prioritize quality, always.

Each time you include an ad, your post immediately looses quality. As being honest, not a single person enjoys them.

But it is also true, that if I don’t include ads every now and then, it would be impossible for me to keep writing these posts.

So you must prioritize content quality as much as you can, balance it with being able to keep posting. It would make no sense sacrificing all the revenue to increase quality, and for that reason be unable to keep posting.

But as soon as you are making enough to keep producing content, you should not push the money machine too much, as it is a double-edged sword. You may be able to generate more revenue in the short time, but in the long run, all your readers will hate your content, and lose them.

Ad slot #2

Don’t rush to monetize.

One of the main mistakes I see people do all the time, is rush for the bucks.

It’s true, we all want to make money, but how you present this to your audience, makes a huge difference.

Two people can both be monetizing their content by the same model. For example, premium subscriptions.

Who is going to sell more? Someone who rush to promote it, or someone who shares high quality value and as an addition offers a premium subscription where you are going to expect even better content?

I would take the latter option every time, and data strongly proves this.

Those who are all the time trying to make you buy something, end up selling less than those who seem less interested at the time of selling a product. This is the same.

We’ve all, at one point or another, felt so overwhelmed at someone’s posts, when we realized they were trying too hard to make some money out of us. A similar feeling that you are getting at a post like this, where there are more ads than actual content.

I hope this helps, as a clear example, of what not to do.

The less promotion paradox

A weird paradox appears when you are promoting your content.

The more you promote it the better, as long you don’t promote it too much.

If you don’t promote at all, you won’t get new users to your platform or whatever you are building, if you start promoting you will get new users, but if you keep promoting it, eventually you will start getting less users. That’s because you are saturating your audience with too many “SPAM” messages, you must find the perfect balance for your audience.

Promoted content paradox
